How to produce charcoal with a charcoal kiln?

In modern charcoal production, charcoal kilns, as an efficient production tool, are widely used in the production of charcoal. The core principle of charcoal kiln production is to heat wood or biomass at high temperature to remove moisture and volatiles from the raw materials, leaving carbon-rich charcoal. This process is called "carbonization".

When producing charcoal, choosing the right raw materials and optimizing the charcoal kiln operation process are the key to improving production efficiency and charcoal quality. Here let's check the effective production process of charcoal kiln designed by Henan Doing Company:

Raw material processing

Depending on the size and moisture content of the raw material particles, determine whether it needs to be crushed and dried. If the raw material particles are too large, a crusher is needed to crush the raw materials into particles within 30mm. It is recommended that the moisture content of the raw materials is less than 15%, otherwise it needs to be dried using a drum dryer and then transported to the charcoal kiln for high-temperature carbonization.

High-temperature carbonization

The charcoal kiln provides heat through an external heating source, the temperature gradually increases, and pyrolysis begins. Volatile compounds are released from the raw materials, leaving solid carbon, i.e. charcoal. This reaction process is carried out in a high temperature oxygen-free environment (400℃~600℃).

One of the key aspects of efficient charcoal production is temperature control in the kiln to ensure optimal pyrolysis and carbonization of wood or biomass. During the carbonization process, the temperature in the kiln should be continuously monitored to avoid excessively high temperatures that cause charcoal to burn, or too low temperatures that affect the quality of the charcoal.

Cooling the charcoal

After pyrolysis is completed, the generated charcoal needs to be fully cooled by the cooling system before it can be packaged or stored. The cooling stage is mainly to prevent the newly produced charcoal from burning and ensure the quality and safety of the product. Generally speaking, the cooling temperature needs to be controlled below 50 degrees. The control of the cooling process is also very important. Too fast cooling may make the charcoal fragile and affect subsequent use.

Investing in a charcoal kiln is an important step in establishing a large-scale charcoal production business. The charcoal kilns developed and produced by DOING Company use advanced technology to significantly improve production efficiency while maintaining the quality of charcoal. Whether it is daily small-batch production or large-scale industrial production, our charcoal kilns can meet your needs.
